24th July 2010 - Stall In Holbeach Market Place

We are getting out and about to meet the public and promote our Learner sessions.

11th June 2010 - Pinchbeck East Primary School

Pinchbeck East Primary School invited us to give a workshop and demonstrate brass instruments to help their Year 1 and 2 pupils with a project on sound. The Musical Director and Chairman saw each Year group separately -probably 25-30 pupils in each group. They took with them cornets, tenor horn, euphonium and BBb Bass - they explained how instruments work and demonstrated them. The children tried out the instruments and many of them produced good sounds.

25th June 2010 - William Stukeley Primary School, Holbeach

The Musical Director went to the William Stukeley School to introduce brass instruments to a whole-school assembly (over 200 pupils and staff). He took with him a cornet, tenor horn, baritone, euphonium and BBb Bass - he explained how instruments work and demonstrated them. The pupils were very well behaved. After half an hour most of the pupils left but some of the older ones stayed behind to try out some of the instruments.

25th June 2010 - Holbeach Primary School

The Musical Director and Chairman went to the Holbeach Primary School.to introduce brass instruments. They took with them a cornet, tenor horn, baritone, euphoniums and BBb Bass. The school had arranged for 20 pupils to meet them, including 5 pupils who belong to the Band's learner group. Those in the Learner group explained how instruments work and demonstrated them, under the guidance of the Musical Director and Chairman.

30th June 2010 - Concert for Holbeach Primary Schools

Holbeach Town Band learner group and main band performed at the William Stukeley School to a combined audience from the two Holbeach Primary Schools.  The learner group entertained the audience for half-an-hour playing pieces from their repertoire;  some of them played the pieces they are using for their music grades.

While the main band set up, children and adults in the audience were encouraged to try out the instruments and were told about the band's training programme

The main band followed with a full concert which was very well received, particularly the march Aces High and the Theme from Pirates of the Caribbean. The band invited children from the audience to join in and play a variety of percussion instruments.

24th July 2010 - Stall In Holbeach Market Place

We had a stall in the Market Place (thanks to the Council for letting us have a pitch), where we had a display of instruments (cornets, horn, euphonium and Bb Bass), music and memorabilia. We were able to promote the learn to Play Week which starts next week and had visits from a number of people interested in learning to play.
